Students of Barisal University (BOB) have again blocked the highway after a 48-hour ultimatum for not complying with the three-point demand. Students started protesting on the Barisal-Kuakata highway in front of the main gate of the university shortly after 5 pm on Friday.
Earlier, students staged a protest procession at 5 pm. Meanwhile, passengers traveling to Barisal, Bhola, Patuakhali, Barguna and Kuakata have suffered due to road blockade.
The protesters alleged brutal attack by police on Tuesday midnight due to a mysterious police did not arrest anyone.
On the other hand, although the university administration provided a list of the names of the injured attackers, the administration did not file a case against them and lodged a written complaint with the police station accusing the unidentified persons. Which the students rejected. They proclaimed to continue the movement until the demand is completed.
Meanwhile, Barisal Sadar MP and State Minister for Water Resources Zahid Farooq Shamim has sent a representative to stand by the students of Barisal University (BOB) who were attacked late last night. They met 11 students undergoing treatment at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital this afternoon. Among the delegates sent by the state minister were former vice president of Barisal Metropolitan Awami League Amin Uddin Ahmed Mohan, Barisal Metropolitan BCL leader Mahidur Rahman Mahad, Barisal University BCL leader Amit Hasan Raktim and others.
Meanwhile, Amin Uddin Ahmed said, “The attack on university students has caused a storm of condemnation all over Bangladesh.” It is important to bring the perpetrators to justice to prevent the recurrence of such heinous incidents. ‘But strangely, one side is trying to hide those involved in the attack, the injured said.
Incidentally, the students blocked the highway for the next 10 hours from 8 am on Wednesday. The students demanded that the perpetrators of Tuesday night’s attack be prosecuted, that the perpetrators be brought to justice quickly and that all non-resident students be given a role in providing security. They set a deadline of 5 pm on Friday to meet these demands. However, the university wanted 7 days.
