bizweek startup While they are  not all media-related, a romp through the slide show of Business Week’s America’s Most Promising Startups can really get the creative juices flowing.

There are several that publishers should take a look at – either to emulate, to think about collaboration, to prospect for advertisers or to just know what the competition is doing.

Do take a look at Mota Motors, used car review site;  Compendium Blogware to help blogs increase their Google ranking; Urban Interns, a new job site; HitFix for entertainment junkies;  the Printed Blog; Wedding Payment Plan (advertising or sponsor prospect, for sure); ExpoTV,  for user-generated product-review videos; Bleacher Report, sports coverage from fans; PhoneVite.com, voice mail blasts from your computer; ReTel Technologies‘ electronic grocery coupons; and Vocalo, a Chicago NPR UGC experiment.

There are 78 profiled startups in all, and a lot to be learned and explored.
