Newspaper Association of America (NAA )  has put together a new site, called NewspaperMedia, talking about  ”Newspapers – The Mult-Medium.”  It’s a great tool for bringing aboard reluctant advertising prospects. The site also offers a free powerpoint download about the value of newspaper advertising. Some of the statistics included in its introductory presentation include:

  •  55% of daily print readers look at inserts
  • Compared to general Web users newspaper site visitors are 33% more likely to hold a professional or managerial position
  • 65% of newspaper site visitors make purchases, as compared with the overall average of 55%.

NAA does not focus on community and suburban newspapers. But there is one organization that does..

Suburban Newspapers of America. SNA’s online presentation is a powerful message, with testimonials, about the value of advertising on community newspapers. Here are some tantalizing statistics that clearly show consumers’ preference for community newspapers, in comparison to major metros:

  • For community and neighborhood news, 62% turn to community newspapers, compared with 21% to the major metro dailies
  • For local youth or high school sports, 60% turn to community newspapers, compared with 24% to the major metro dailies.
